Some of you might know that my husband Nathan is a birder. Among other things, this means that the second Monday of every month is devoted to the Roanoke Valley Bird Club and that family vacations will inevitably include a stop at a nature preserve. But one of my favorite things that my birder-husband does is track rare bird sightings via eBird. When another birder records an unusual specimen our area, he’ll get a notification. Alerted by the ping, he’ll glance at his phone, give me a knowing look, and rush out the door in pursuit of the elusive.
Several weeks ago in light of Twitter’s (un)certain demise, I finally set up a substack. Folks had been telling me to do it for years, but it appears that only the eccentric behavior of a billionaire overlord could make it happen. I’m still figuring out how to use this platform so for the time being, Threads will act as a “rare bird alert.” It will notify you know when I post a thread on Twitter that might be worth your time. This way, you and I can both spend less time watching the feeds and more time watching the skies.
Today’s thread is about Christian nationalism, racism, and the challenges of modernity.

Thank you. While I am taking Twitter break, this will help me keep up. Also I am enjoying Heaven and Nature.
